Birch Academy – 25 years of preschool excellence
The institution’s success is a testament to the hard work and commitment of its staff and the unwavering support of the parents.
Birch Academy, a cornerstone of the Naturena community, celebrated its 25th anniversary in early June.
The silver milestone marks a quarter century of dedication to early childhood education and the positive impact the school has made in the lives of children and families.
The celebration not only honoured Birch Academy’s journey and growth but also aligned with Child Protection Week, with the school beautifully decorated in green to raise awareness.
Principal and owner Lorraine Martin shared the academy’s humble beginnings. Originally launched as Smiley Kids Naturena, the preschool was founded by Lorraine and her sister Gail Arthur, who both played pivotal roles in the Naturena and Meredale communities.
“Education has always been our top priority, and love for children is at the heart of everything we do,” said Martin.
Today, Birch Academy is a fully registered institution with the Departments of Education, Social Development, Health, and Fire. Martin emphasised the importance of registration, urging parents to ensure their children attend compliant and legally recognised preschools.
“Birch Academy’s success is the result of our committed staff, and the continued trust and support of our parents. We prioritise strong foundations in literacy and mathematics and ensure our teachers receive ongoing training through the Department of Education,” she said.
Martin also expressed gratitude to the Lord for protecting the school and its learners throughout the years, and extended thanks to all the teachers and families, past and present, who have supported the academy’s journey.
