Well, my Christmas cake is now made and it will get its weekly dose of brandy up until I marzipan and ice it!
More and more Christmas goodies are on the shelves now and don’t forget to look for non-perishable items on special which you’ll use over the festive period. You can stock up on all kinds of things and it really will help in December.
St Mary’s Christmas tree
Once again The Glen Shopping Centre will be putting up a Christmas tree for St Mary’s Children’s Home. The idea is simple, pick a gift tag and buy for whoever and whatever is written on the tag.
Please try and take a tag. I know everything is so expensive but if you can purchase just one gift for one child or toiletries or groceries, it will make all the difference to the children’s home and the children for Christmas.
Dressing up
I love dresses and this year there is a huge choice to choose from in all stores. It seems like ‘the dress’ is making a comeback and I for one am very pleased. Lace also seems to be fashionable, as well as zips! I’m not too keen on skirts which zip all the way down the back, maybe for the younger set.
Bling sandals
High heels always look so glamorous and make legs look longer but sometimes an outfit calls for flip flops or sandals, especially for a more casual look. There are lots of gorgeous bling sandals in the shops and Perocili have some beautiful ones, from +- R300.
Focus on Local
You don’t have to be mad to eat out at The Mad Platter, new to The Lemon Tree in Alberton. I have to say, generally I’m not a buffet fan but I was really impressed with the quality and presentation of the food and what I ate was delicious. I’ll definitely be going back again.

Bouquets of the Week
“Due to a glitch in our dressmaking plans we approached Baby and Lady X about two weeks prior to the wedding. We asked if she would be able to assist us and with a smile and a totally peaceful attitude she agreed. Instantly she put our minds at rest, among all the normal wedding stress!! Every phone call and every fitting, she made us feel as if there was 3 months left to go. Her daughter Gabriella, head assistant Deolinda and all her staff were always warm and welcoming, even though we had added extra work to their already heavy load. There are no words to describe our sincerest gratitude and hope that the biggest bouquet ever will do all the teams work justice. Much gratitude Luisa, Vanessa, Bianca Vieira and Lorraine Papazoglou.”
