Rugby boys make history at Waterstone

The under 11 and 13 rugby teams represented Waterstone College at the annual Southern African Christian School's Sports Association

THE u.13 rugby boys at Waterstone College are making history at the school that introduced the sport only this year.

The u.11 and u.13 rugby teams represented Waterstone College at the annual Southern African Christian School’s Sports Association (SACSSA) junior seven-a-side rugby tournament hosted by Alma Mater Academy for the first time in the school’s history.

Both teams performed well, taking into account that they only had six weeks of preparation for the tournament.

The u.11 team came fifth, showing improvement and character with every match they played. The u.13 side performed exceptionally well, as they reached the playoffs for third and fourth place, unfortunately losing against the host school, Alma Mater Academy.

Waterstone looks forward to reaching new heights and entering more teams into these tournaments in 2017, thus expanding the game of sevens rugby in the South of Johannesburg.
