Gymnasts excel at nationals
Elite Rhythmic Gymnastics Club gymnasts competed at the Provincial Rhythmic Championship.
MEMBERS of the Elite Rhythmic Gymnastics Club competed at the recent Provincial Rhythmic Championship at the Klipriviersberg Recreational Centre and held their own.
Following this championship, the club entered eight girls in a free dance open group that qualified to compete at the National Gym Games in Cape Town on October 1.
The group’s performances were outstanding and they took first place and a gold medal at the games.
The club also entered six gymnasts individually who qualified for nationals and received full Gauteng colours. These gymnasts are Bethany Delarentis, Alexia da Silva, Tamryn Brown, Emma Farr, Ashleigh Farr and Shana Marreiros. All achieved outstanding results, Ashleigh placed second in the level four u.13 competition and Shana Marreiros also placed second in level nine u.15 at the National Gym Games.
The club would like to thank the coach, Buyantsogt Batbagana, and the parents for their support.
Classes are held at the Klipriviersberg Recreational Centre at Peggy Vera Road in Kibler Park. Aspiring gymnasts aged four and up are welcome to visit the centre on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 15:00 to 18:00.
