Steyn City School honoured to host Bafana Bafana

Bafana Bafana had a training session at Steyn City School.

Bafana head coach Stuart Baxter has chosen to take his troops to Steyn City School for training during this week, a simulation of the pitch they will find in their return encounter in Seychelles.

The national soccer team will take on Seychelles in a 2019 AFCON qualifier. The encounter takes place between March 20 and 26, 2019. The match will be played at the FNB Stadium on October 13, and starts at15.00pm. Tickets are available at a reasonable price. The doubleheader will continue on October 16 in Seychelles when Bafana Bafana plays them at home.

“I think this is the best pitch to train on which offers us a fast surface ahead of our return encounter against Seychelles in Seychelles,” said Baxter. “Then we already have become accustomed to their kind of pitches that we will play our return match.”

Steyn City turned into a hive of excitement as Bafana Bafana descended on the campus this week to try out the school’s new facilities and pitches.

Steyn City School is both honoured and thrilled to host the national team, says headmaster Brian Mitchell. “This is, of course, a significant endorsement of the calibre of our facilities. But more than this, we have the opportunity to leverage some of the massive excitement created by Bafana Bafana’s presence to benefit our community.”

Steyn City has invited players from the Diepsloot Stream Soccer Club to view their soccer heroes in action on the Steyn City School pitch on Monday. The players, ranging in age from 16 to 20, will be accompanied by their coaches, Ngoako Ramolesana and Thabo Wesi.

The lifestyle resort is celebrating the seventh edition of this event, always highly anticipated by Diepsloot residents, by inviting people to become #SoleMates when they #PledgeAPair.

“This year, we’re focusing our efforts on collecting 13 000 pairs of school shoes for Diepsloot’s primary school learners,” said Steyn City Properties’ CEO, Giuseppe Plumari. That’s why we’re urging Steyn City residents, contractors, staff and the community at large, to support our initiative.”
