Wits run rampant against Alberton

Wits Rugby Club won all their matches against Lifestyle Alberton on August 6 at the Alberton Rugby Club as part of the Memorial Cup.

The wins mean that the team from Wits is still undefeated in this year’s cup.

All teams for Alberton, except for the U20s that played against Wanderers, played Wits.

Before the first XV team match, a moment of silence was held for the former secretary of Alberton Rugby Club, Oom Loot Kleynhans, who died recently.

Kleynhans was also a player at Alberton Rugby Club for many years.

Alberton had to defend from the get-go with Wits going over for the first try of the match but good work from Alberton meant that they replied by scoring a try in the corner.

That was one of Alberton’s three tries, which was not enough as the visitors ran in 10 tries to win the match 60-17.
Lifestyle Alberton will next face Pirates on August 12.
