What’s On at The Lyric in the month of March

Prepare for many fun nights out at the Lyric Theatre this March.

ORMONDE – The side-splittingly funny comedy show, 99% Zulu Comedy, returns to The Lyric at Gold Reef City from March 7 to 8 at 20:00.

The line-up includes seven professional comedians from KZN and Jozi, hosted by the only comedienne, DSTV Mzansi Magic’s Celeste Ntuli. Other performers include Mpukane; Siyanda Maphumulo; Skhumba Hlophe; Sifiso Nene; Mali Ntuli; Thapelo Tips Seemise and Mashabela.

Crossing over with John Edward

After what will be an absence of more than three years, psychic medium John Edward is set to return to South Africa on Friday March 14 at 20:30.

Each seminar will begin with an interactive question and answer session. He will then connect with the Other Side and give messages to the audience from family and friends who have crossed over.

Miss India Gauteng

The hunt is on for the 23rd Miss India South Africa and Gauteng province, which produced seven national winners, will kick off this latest campaign with a glittering event at the Lyric Theatre, Gold Reef City on March 15 at 19:00.

Twenty contestants will line up to compete for the crown, which is currently being held by Caerish Bhim, and for eight places in the Miss India South Africa Pageant, which is also to take place at Gold Reef City on August 30, 2014.

Legendary jazz musician to perform at The Lyric

Jazz legend Abdullah Ibrahim will be performing music from two new albums at his upcoming SA concert on March 20 at 20:00.

This legendary South African jazz musician and his US band Ekaya will once again delight local audiences with a performance in Johannesburg.

Soweto International Comedy Festival

The Soweto International Comedy Festival is now in its third year and previously hosted top notch international comedians like Yoursie Thomas, Grif, Martin Davis and more. This year the festival promises to be even bigger and funnier.

It will take place on March 21 and 22 at The Lyric, Gold Reef City at 20:00.

Yonatan Razel set to delight audiences at The Lyric

Yonatan Razel is a singer, writer, composer, musical arranger and conductor with a massive following in the Jewish community in South Africa and around the world. His mastery over many instruments and powerful lyrics make him a much sought after performer. This will be his second live concert in Johannesburg after his sell-out first concert in February 2013.

He will be performing at The Lyric, Gold Reef City on March 26 to 27, at 20:30

An Audience with Pieter-Dirk EISH!

Pieter-Dirk Uys brings his ‘what the audience wants’ performance to Gold Reef City’s Lyric on March 28 to 29 at 20:30. He has prepared a different show of 90 minutes for each evening’s performance.

Audiences will have the opportunity to choose what show they want to watch. It could be Evita Bezuidenhout as a new ANC cadre, or Nowell Fine celebrating 40 years in the public eye. Maybe a Malema in Gucci or chains, some Zumas married or not, one or two Mandelas, a Tutu, a PW or a Pik.

What about Mother Theresa making sure that Jesus will only return if the ANC stays in power?

With the choice of 15 boxes on stage, a member of the audience chooses a number. Outcome characters and entertainment that could be a drama, a comedy, a farce or a shocking exposé. Every box holds a familiar secret! Every laugh truly South African!
