JOHANNESBURG
Limpopo Parks Exposé
The Limpopo province manages 43 spectacular nature reserves. But, these pristine parks are in a state of rapid decay. Sources reveal that management is non-existent and infrastructure has collapsed with many state parks now closed to the public. Animals – some of which wander across from the Kruger Park – are being hunted to generate funds and acres of trees have fallen to the axes of commercial wood gatherers. Carte Blanche investigates.

Cape Sewage Outrage
Aerial photographs of the oceans around the Southern tip of the continent went viral earlier this year causing outrage. The images showed that the City of Cape Town was pumping 55 million litres of untreated sewage into Table Bay every day. New scientific analysis now reveals that 87 000 carcinogenic, hormone disrupting chemicals could be seeping from the sewage mass into the oceans. Yet, the city is without any immediate solutions. Carte Blanche investigates the far-reaching impact of the filth.

Oscar Pistorius Guilty of Murder
The Supreme Court of Appeal has found Oscar Pistorius guilty of murdering Reeva Steenkamp.Overturning his conviction of culpable homicide, Judge Eric Leach described the case as a tragedy of Shakespearian proportions and found the ruling by Judge Masipa’s flawed, before referring the matter back to her for sentencing. Carte Blanche brings incisive insight into this new judgment and more, as we take our cameras into the prison cell in which Oscar was jailed at Kgosi Mampuri II Prison.
