Fun day at Aspen

ASPEN’S annual Food and Beverage Festival, which was held recently, aimed at bringing local restaurants and businesses together in a celebration of local delights on offer.
The festival is a nonprofit day for Aspen and is a social event not only to bring the community together but to share in the experience of eating and drinking with friends and family.
The event had local favourites, Doppio Zero who brought their winter warmer soup, bakery breads, cakes and biscuits, and Grand Life Café, which offered chicken souvla, beef ribs, lobster bisque and salad with Corona to wash it down. Casbah offered their signature burgers and the drink selection didn’t disappoint with wine from Nederburg, sparkling wine from JC Le Roux, Swagga craft beer and local The Market Guys who whipped up the most amazing cocktails.
If the delicious food and drink was not enough, there was plenty of entertainment to keep customers busy. Doppio Zero sponsored prizes to enthusiastic beer drinkers who challenged each other to a game of beer pong. Little ones enjoyed the big inflatable slides, rocket ride and the inflatable shooting tunnel.
“A big thank you to X-treme Foam Parties, which is owned by one of our residents, for supplying the inflatables. The local charity PALS provided face painting and henna tattoos. Soft Ball Play, also a local business, offered a safe play area for children under five years. Our major headline entertainment act, Simply For Duo, not only played the latest hits but serenaded residents with golden oldies. The young charismatic duo dressed and sounded as if we had stepped back in time when being charming was fashionable,” said Andrea Scott, Aspen public relations officer.
