Are you despicable enough?

Despicable Me 3 characters will be unleashed at ten Sun International venues this winter

FANS of the outrageous blockbuster franchise, Despicable Me, can look forward to rubbing shoulders with Gru and one of his Minions, Mel, at Carnival City on June 16 and 17 – so be sure not to miss out.

The colourful characters will be visiting ten Sun International properties to meet and greet their fans in anticipation of Despicable Me 3’s cinematic launch in South Africa on June 30. The whirlwind roadshow between May and July 2017 is made possible by Sun International, Universal Pictures and UIP South Africa.

Buoyed by the response to the Minions’ roadshow to promote their movie Minions in 2015, Sun International looks forward to welcoming fans, young and old, in their droves. Fans will get to meet the famed Despicable Me characters and even have their photos taken with them. Sun International’s teams across the country are also conspiring to make the experiences even more memorable with fun-filled activities and many new surprises.

Illumination Entertainment and Universal Pictures’ worldwide blockbuster Despicable Me introduced audiences around the globe to the super villain Gru and his mischievous Minions. After becoming father to orphans Margo, Edith and Agnes, Gru ultimately gave up his life of crime and turned from Super Bad to Super Dad.

In Despicable Me 2 Gru was recruited by top agent Lucy to join the Anti-Villain League (AVL). Gru thought romance was out of his reach until he fell hard for his super spy partner, now wife, Lucy. In June 2017 Gru, Lucy and the girls return for a globe-hopping adventure featuring new characters and some big surprises.

There is a new super villain on the scene whose exploits cause Lucy and Gru to lose their jobs. The Minions who are desperate for a life of crime, decide to leave Gru and go off in search of a new Big Boss. We also discover Gru has a twin brother in the shape of Dru – fantastically wealthy, charming and sophisticated and with a head of fabulous golden hair.

Despicable Me 3 promises audiences plenty of new narrative, new characters, new plot twists and Despicable Me sibling rivalry all of which will be delivered with Illumination’s trademark sweet and subversive style of comedy.
