14 THE SA Military History Society meets again on March 14, at 8pm at the auditorium of the Museum of Military History, Erlswold Way, Saxonwold (next to the zoo). The first event will be: “A journey into the Second World War: The Museum of the Great Patriotic War in Moscow” by Adina Bregman. The main lecture will be: “Blood money – the world’s most dangerous job in the world’s most dangerous country” by Johan Raath. Wives are welcome to come along with their husbands to enjoy the evening with us. Visitors are charged R30 per person, which includes tea or coffee after the lecture. NEW 29 A LIVE Country Evening will be hosted by Denise Lourens, Gerald Panaino and Lua A Baker’s Cafe, 102 Michelle Avenue, Randhart on March 29 at 6.30pm for 7pm and everyone who loves country and music is welcome. Musicians like Denise, Gerald and his band and some new local singers will entertain people. “Our plan is to give the new up-and-coming singers from Alberton a chance to sing in front of an audience. 30 A 5km fun run called The UV Run will be held at Rietvlei Zoo Farm on March 30 in aid of Epic Foundation and hosted by Glow4Events. Runners will get to experience unique “glow zones” along the trail and there will also be a “Bug Zone” where children can get their faces painted, get balloon animals and enjoy other fun activities. The event and registration will open at 4pm and the run will start at 7pm. Purchase a ticket today on www.glow4events.com. 30 INTERNATIONAL Society for Krishna Conscience (ISKCON) will be hosting its second Festival of Chariots, or Ratha Yatra as it is traditionally known, as a celebration of love which envelops the community. The festival is set to start on March 30. The core foundation of the festival is unity and love through active yoga and transcendental meditation. The festival has often been described as a revolutionary one world mardi gras hosted in all the major cities in the world. Festivities kick off at 10.30am at Simmonds Road next to Newtown Music Factory. Food and entertainment will be provided for free. This course will help married, soon-to-be-married couples living together and dating couples with children from a previous relationship. It is presented by Ron L Deal, who is a world-leading expert in the field of stepfamily enrichment and is facilitated by members of the Alberton Methodist Church who have successfully raised stepchildren. The course will be hosted at Alberton Methodist Church every Wednesday from May 8 to June 19 from 7pm to 9pm.
