Watch: Leopard caught slipping through Hoedspruit fence

A leopard named Mafu, filmed by Villiers Steyn, shows remarkable adaptability by effortlessly removing rocks to cross under a fence.

Wildlife photographer Villiers Steyn recently captured remarkable footage of a leopard named Mafu in the Hoedspruit Wildlife Estate.

Letaba Herald reports the video shows the big male leopard effortlessly removing rocks from beneath a fence before slipping under and out with ease.

Steyn explains that Mafu regularly roams across the estate’s 600 hectares and the adjoining property to the south, often using holes in the fence to move between the two.

“Every now and again, these holes get filled up by estate security,” Steyn says. “But this video shows you that nothing will keep a leopard in or out.”

The sighting is a reminder of the adaptability and determination of one of Africa’s most elusive predators.
