Aerialnastix a vital outlet for children

Tumbletide Warmbad-club officially opened its doors in March this year and this club aims to revolutionize the local sports scene by introducing the exhilarating world of Aerial Tumbling, known as Aerialnastix, to children and adults alike.

Tumbletide is founded by three passionate coaches, Amone van Niekerk, Mariaan van Niekerk, and Reinhard van Niekerk.

“We have one main mission and that is inclusivity for old and young and for those children who can not afford extra mural activities,” said Mariaan van Niekerk.

The club provides opportunities for as many individuals as possible to engage in Aerialnastix. By offering classes centrally at Hoërskool Warmbad, accessibility is maximized, allowing children from diverse backgrounds to participate in this physically and mentally enriching activity.

Amone and Reinhard, two siblings, are both accomplished gymnasts with a rich history of national-level achievements, bringing their wealth of experience and expertise to the club. Alongside Mariaan, the trio is trained as Aerialnastix coaches, ensuring that members receive top-tier instruction and guidance in this dynamic sport.

Mariaan said that Aerialnastix isn’t just about somersaults and flips; it’s a holistic approach to physical development. In today’s world, where free play and movement are increasingly limited, Aerialnastix provides a vital outlet for children to enhance their fine and gross motor skills, balance, coordination, flexibility, and endurance. Moreover, the sport instills essential values such as discipline, respect, perseverance, and teamwork.

As a registered club with SAAerialnastix, TumbleTide Warmbad opens doors to official competitions at provincial, national, and even international levels.

“Unlike other gymnastics federations, where opportunities may be reserved for a select few, Aerialnastix welcomes participants of all skill levels, ensuring that every gymnast has the chance to shine on the competitive stage,” said Mariaan

The apparatus used in Aerialnastix, however, comes at a cost. Mariaan mentioned that they are grateful for the generosity of Jee-Dee Cloete, who has provided a airtrack.
The club is actively fundraising to acquire more equipment.

“Community support is crucial in this endeavor of ours to ensure that we can offer Arealnastix classes to those who can’t necessarily afford more expensive gymnastics schools, and TumbleTide Warmbad invites locals to join hands in empowering aspiring gymnasts,” said Mariaan.

TumbleTide Warmbad offers classes at Hoërskool Warmbad on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons from 16:30 onwards. Prospective members and curious visitors are encouraged to reach out via WhatsApp on tel. 062 659 5533 or e-mail at tumbletidewarmbad@gmail.com.
