Check your property’s value on the roll

Residents can view a draft of the valuation roll for the period 1 July 2024 until 30 June 2029 at the offices of the Modimolle-Mookgophong Municipality.

The complete roll, with several corrections being made, can be inspected until the end of January, according to a municipal notice.

“The draft valuation roll is issued to allow property owners to preliminary review the roll and engage the municipality and the valuers on any inaccuracies before the certified valuation roll is issued,” it read.

Residents are encouraged to check the value of their properties as this will have an impact on the rates payable to the municipality. Once the roll has been approved by the municipal council (this happens together with the approval of the municipal budget), the process to correct mistakes becomes much more laboursome.

The objection period commences after Wednesday 31 January on the final certified roll in terms of the Municipal Property Rates Act. Once Active Valuation Services, the valuer appointed by the municipality, submits the final certified roll, the Municipal Manager, Ben Thobela, will publish the certified general valuation roll calling all property owners to raise their objections.
