Broadacres Academy donates food to Ark Animal Centre

CHARTWELL – The children from Broadacres Academy Preparatory School recently donated over 200 packets of dog food to the Ark Animal Centre.

Thanks to Broadacres Academy Preparatory School the dogs and puppies from Ark Animal Centre will have full tummies.

The school recently organised a food collection drive for the animal shelter, and Class 4S won when they collected the most donations with 91 in total. Second place was Grade 1V with 72 items and third place was Grade 2H with 61 items donated. As a thank you to the children, staff and parents who contributed to the drive and Tracy Otto from Ark Animal Centre visited the school.

“Tracy visited the school to do a quick talk to the students about animal care and what Ark does, and she brought along two of the cutest little puppies that all the teachers and students fell in love with,” explained Candice Eilersen, the social media and fundraising manager for the shelter. “She absolutely loved her time at the school and was so impressed with how the children are so aware of animals and other creatures in the world.

“She said it was fantastic that schools are including animal care and kindness into their programmes.

“All the donated items are currently being used to feed the 40 plus puppies we have rescued in the last couple weeks. Their timing for the collection couldn’t have been more perfect.”

Eilersen added that she hoped Ark would visit the school again soon.
