Fourways Crossing’s project to stop hunger
The Fourways Crossing Shopping Centre, together with Stop Hunger Now SA, will be hosting a meal packing event on 12 October.
The initiative is a significant part of Fourways Crossing’s corporate social investment project and is set to help provide fully balanced meals for underprivileged schools, as well as for the early childhood development and daycare centres in Diepsloot. With only R2.75 for each meal, an amount of R75 000 will be needed by the Fourways Crossing campaigners to reach their target of 30 000 meals on the day.
According to Stop Hunger Now SA, South Africa has more than three million children under the age of 17 who suffer from household hunger, while children under the age of six suffer from malnutrition resulting in permanent brain development impairment. “With help from the tenants, the businesses in the area, the media, as well as the general public, this initiative might be able to assist Stop Hunger Now SA in their aim to eradicate hunger,” said Rosa Veljoen, marketing manager of Fourways Crossing.
Viljoen is inviting everyone to contribute to this event. “There are a number of ways in which people can get involved such as offering their time or making contributions to fund the meals,” she said.
