Cluny Farm gets welcome donation
Cluny Farm received a donation of mattresses and tinned food from FNB Contact Centre Randburg.
Cluny Farm is a work farm situated in Kyalami which provides residence and work opportunities to 54 intellectually disabled adults.
Juanita Cronje, developmental officer for the farm, explained how the donation came about.
She said, “Jacqueline Coetzee of the FNB Contact Centre in Randburg contacted me about three months ago because she had seen our website while she was searching for centres for her brother who is intellectually disabled.”
Coetzee visited the farm with a work colleague, Marlon Joel.
Cronje said, “Marlon was fascinated with our farm and wanted to know how they could get involved. That was the beginning of a beautiful friendship.”
The contact centre donated 3600 tins of canned food to the farm as well as 14 beds for the residents.
The painting and upgrading of one of the houses at the farm is next on the agenda for the volunteers from FNB.
Cronje said, “A big thank you to FNB Contact Centre Randburg from the residents and staff at Cluny Farm. We really needed the help and these guys came through. We always need help, not only financially but also with time and skills. Anyone interested in helping our farm can visit our website to see our wishlist and get in contact with us.”
