Coining it for conservation

CHARTWELL - North Sands Learning Academy pupils made a worthy donation to rhino conservation by creating a rhino effigy completely out of coins.

The children raised money for the Dance to be Wild foundation, an initiative founded by Sheila Bath to empower South African children to take ownership of their wildlife heritage through dance. The foundation also aims to make a significant and meaningful contribution towards anti-poaching initiatives.

To raise money for Dance to be Wild, North Sands pupils embarked on the process of creating an effigy of a rhino completely made out of coins.

This allowed them to collect over R600 in coins which was then donated to the foundation.

North Sands Learning Academy is situated in Chartwell Country Estates, close to the Broadacres Shopping Centre. The academy prides itself on being a nurturing environment for children with different learning styles who are not able to cope with mainstream education.
