Ark helps mother dog and eleven pups
CHARTWELL- Ark Animal Centre in Chartwell is treating a mother dog called Missy and her 11 pups.
Candice Eilertsen of Ark Animal Centre said that when the shelter received Missy and her puppies they were in a terrible state. Missy came from another welfare organisation who found her living as a stray. Two days after being taken by the other welfare organisation she went into labour. “Her labour was very long and it exhausted her terribly,” Eilertsen said.
Missy and her pups were brought to Ark Animal Centre because the shelter specialises in the housing and care of puppies and pregnant dogs.
One of Missy’s puppies died during the night before her arrival at the shelter and one puppy was dead on arrival.
Missy and her surviving puppies were rushed to the medical room on their arrival at Ark Animal Centre. Missy is now being given high calorie food and her puppies are under a very close watch.
“The puppies are far more stable now and Missy is trusting us more and more each day,” Eilertsen said.
