Douglasdale police get fit
DOUGLASDALE - Police got active with Planet Fitness during a fitness day at The Buzz Shopping Centre.
Constable Sibongile Bekenya explained that the aim of the fitness day was to promote a healthy lifestyle among members of the police force.
She approached Planet Fitness with the idea of giving the Douglasdale Police special rates.
“Members of the police are encouraged to lead a healthy and active lifestyle and the gym is just across the road from the Douglasdale Police Station so it would be convenient for officers to exercise there,” Constable Bekenya said.
Instructors from Planet Fitness conducted aerobic work-out classes and drills with the Douglasdale police to give them a taste of what could be expected if they joined the gym.
The officers and administration staff of the police station snacked on fruit and drank water and fruit juice in between drills to encourage them to also eat healthily.
