Dainfern Lions bare their claws

DAINFERN - The Dainfern Lions soccer club have bared their fangs and are a force to be reckoned with.

The U9, U12 and U13 teams took part in a tournament as part of the Rand Central Football League and managed to win all their matches.

“The kids played like true lions and walked away with all the prizes,” Nic Papas, chairperson of the soccer club said.

Head coach for the Dainfern Lions is former professional soccer champion, Gary Avnit.

To get into the Soccer World Cup spirit, the club has adopted a yellow, blue and green kit to show their support of hosts Brazil. Their usual colours are red and black.

“We are already in World Cup fever at Dainfern and are awaiting new signings,” Papas said. “We have space for 20 more players aged six to 16.

The club admits both genders and holds training for different age groups on Monday to Friday from 5pm to 6pm at the soccer fields in Dainfern Golf Estate.
