Montecasino to host glittering stars in Constellations
MAGALIESSIG- It's been confirmed that Ashley Dowds and Janna Ramos-Violante will star in the first South African production of Constellations.
For star gazers, this story of love and honey is set in a quantum multiverse that blends the everyday and the ethereal, the actual and the imaginable, revealing that every outcome may only be the first link in a chain of cosmic consequences.
In the director’s chair for the South African staging is Alan Swerdlow who, with his own row of awards on the mantle piece is ready to dissect the award-winning play by Nick Payne. Constellations premiered at the Royal Court Theatre in London in 2012, and went on to win the Best Play category at the Evening Standard Theatre Awards. This was followed by a highly successful West End transfer to the Duke of York’s Theatre.
This year it was also announced that Jake Gyllenhaal, known for his work on cult movies such as Donnie Darko and Brokeback Mountain will be making his Broadway debut in 2015 with the American production.
In the meantime South African theatre stars Ashley Dowds and Janna Ramos-Violante will sparkle on South African stages.
The Johannesburg run at Montecasino is from 8 August to 28 September, followed by a season at The Theatre on the Bay in Cape Town.
