Cocaine crackdown in Fourways

FOURWAYS - On 11 August seven suspects were arrested by the Douglasdale police for possession of cocaine.

Colonel Tinus Swart of the Douglasdale police said the arrests occurred at an entertainment complex in Fourways and that 3kg of cocaine, with an estimated street value of R700 000, was confiscated from the suspects.

Swart said due to the large amount of cocaine that was seized, the police believed that the suspects were dealing in the drug. According to Swart, two of the suspects were South African and the rest were foreign nationals. Swart said the arrests came as a result of an anonymous tip-off from the community to the organised crime department of the Douglasdale police.

“I’m glad to see that the community is aiding the police, especially after the security meeting that was held in Lonehill in which community involvement was encouraged,” Swart said. “We encourage community members to come forward if they ever see any suspicious behaviour as this can lead to quick arrests.”
