Nurse is recognised for her efforts

BROADACRES - Life Fourways Hospital awarded one of the maternity nurses the prestigious Discovery Excellence Award on 20 October.

The Discovery Excellence Award for nursing is a programme which celebrates nurses who, provincially, patients have identified as having played an important role during their stay in the hospital.

Sister Lerato Sedibe was given the award at a small ceremony with her colleagues.

“I am surprised and I didn’t expect this,” said Sedibe. The award is voted by patients who elect a staff member for their hospitality, care and attention.

Nina Gomez, the Discovery Health Lounge manager at the hospital, was pleased to hand over the award to Sedibe. She stated it was the second time a staff member has won this award from the hospital.

She noted Sedibe is one of the kindest nurses in the maternity ward and she deserves to be recognised for her efforts. Sedibe concluded her speech by thanking her team who work on her shift at the maternity ward and stressed it was very much a team effort.
