Warrant Officer Balan Muthan, head of communications for the Douglasdale police, said the station would like to thank residents for their patience during the renovation period.
The Douglasdale police are aiming to improve service delivery for community members and create better working conditions for officers.
During the renovation period, it is still business as usual at the station.
Another way in which the station is improving service delivery is through their community support programme. In joint effort between the Douglasdale Community Policing Forum and the station, community volunteers have been deployed in the centre to help with operations.
Advocate Jean Berdou, chairperson of the Douglasdale forum said the forum was excited to announce the launch of the intensified community support programme to assist police by placing trained volunteers in the client service centre during peak hours.
“The improvement of client service is critical to community and police relations and has been identified as a priority,” he said.
The forum is always looking for new members and more volunteers for their community support programme, especially for the 2pm to 6pm shift. Together with the new and improved centre and the team of community volunteers, service delivery at the Douglasdale Police Station is sure to improve.
