Zero tolerance during festive season

DOUGLASDALE - The Douglasdale police are taking a zero tolerance stance towards crime during the festive season and the days leading up to it.

Warrant officer Balan Muthan, head of communications for the Douglasdale police said police are increasing their visibility before the festive season.

He explained that police are taking a zero tolerance approach towards drinking and driving and disorderly behaviour in the Douglasdale policing precinct.

He warned residents to be vigilant while visiting shopping centres and to make sure they lock their cars after parking in public places. Muthan urged residents to refrain from withdrawing large sums of money while doing their Christmas shopping and to rather use EFTs or withdraw small amounts at a time.

He said residents should be extra careful to lock their doors and gates during and before the festive season and to consider padlocking their exterior gates at night.
