The Steyn City course of action

STEYN CITY - Steyn City golf course opened its gates to keen golfers eager to finally have a chance to swing their clubs on the much-talked-about course.

While construction still continues at the 2 000 acre resort, the Steyn City golf course is lush, green and ready to go.

CEO of Steyn City Properties, Giuseppe Plumari said because a golf course took so long to develop, it was the first thing developers worked on. “A lot of resorts don’t have a fully functioning golf course before they launch and guests can’t get the full experience,” he said. “We want people to come here and buy a dream that’s already fully developed.”

From a design perspective, the golf course is user-friendly with wide fairways. Steyn City ensured minimum impact to the riverine’s delicate flora and fauna during the construction phase of the course. “We not only want people to play golf, but we also want to encourage non-golfers to enjoy walking on the pathways and taking in the views,” said Ken Payet, the golf course’s general manager. “The design ensures that they will not interfere with the golfers and will also be safe.”

A select group of colleagues, peers and golfing enthusiasts were invited to the resort to get the full Steyn City golf course experience. Guests took in the amazing view of Fourways, the tranquil country setting and the excellent food and service at the Steyn City clubhouse before teeing off on the course for the very first time.
