Motorcade for mens’ health
CRAIGAVON - There was leather, chains, beards and a whole lot of heart at the annual Snors for a Cause Motorcade.
Cedar Square was one of the meeting points for the motorcade, which took place nationwide.
The Snors for a Cause Motorcade is aimed at raising awareness and funds for men’s health and cancer.
This year, the initiative chose to partner with, and donate to, More Balls than Most, PinkDrive’s brother campaign. More Balls Than Most is dedicated to promoting awareness of the importance of early detection of prostate and testicular cancer. Harley-Davidson® Africa played a huge part in the motorcade, mobilising their chapters nationwide to take part in the initiative.
While Harley-Davidson’s were the stars of the day, motorcycles of all shapes and sizes bore their enthusiastic owners on the motorcade. According to the Cancer Association of South Africa, prostate cancer is the most common cancer in South African men with a one in 26 lifetime risk to develop it. Testicular cancer on the other hand is one of the most common cancers in young men aged 15 to 39.
“With Snors for a Cause Motorcade 2014, we are encouraging awareness and urging family, friends, colleagues and associates to get tested early,” said Trisch Rosema of More Balls than Most, “In the past two decades, most men have survived prostate cancer and a continual diagnosis and early treatment can have an even bigger impact.”
Riders really got into the spirit of the awareness campaign and brandished fake moustaches, tassled handlebars and limited edition Snors for a Cause buffs to show their support. “We are grateful to have the support of Harley-Davidson® Africa who have committed to a minimum donation of R50 000 for the fight against cancer in men,” Rosema said.
“This donation will be used for much-needed education. The more awareness we can create together and the more funds raised, the more we can tackle the testicular and prostate cancer issue head on and prevent cancer.”
