Crawford College trains scholar patrol member

FOURWAYS - Crawford College Fourways has necessitated the training and implementation of scholar patrol marshals.

In an attempt to emphasise the safety of the community of Crawford College, great emphasis on maintaining a safe environment for parents and children has been made priority at the school. The implementation of scholar patrol teams means the traffic at the school is regulated daily helping to create a safe-crossing zone in the mornings for pupils, the Crawford community and other pedestrians using the roads around the school.

This initiative instills in children the importance as pedestrians to follow the road rules. The team comprises of children who volunteer their time to enhance the safety of the community. Grade 6 and 7 pupils are welcome to join as a scholar patrol member, and the team embarks on training that continues until the middle of their Grade 7 year.

They not only act as ambassadors of the school and encourage all students, parents and teachers to observe and follow the rules of road safety, but the team also lends itself to the leadership programmes at the school where children are encouraged to develop their leadership skills, show commitment to teamwork, and demonstrate punctuality, maturity and a sense of responsibility.
