Friends of Norscot band together for charity

NORSCOT - As the Christmas season kicks off, local Fourways non-profit organisation, Friends of Norscot hosted the first of what is to be an annual Carols by Candlelight at Norscot Manor.

This child-friendly event took place in the late afternoon and provided a great atmosphere for the entire family. The event was hosted in the Secret Tea Garden on the grounds of the manor. It was an intimate setting which captured the mood of the building, and a sense of community that Friends of Norscot is trying to build within the community. A portion of the proceeds acquired from the evening’s activities will go to various charities, while the reset will be poured back into the general upkeep of the building.

Member of Friends of Norscot Jo Warden said the group was formed in order to try and preserve the structure which has sentimental value to the people of Fourways. The group believes they have managed to keep the building safe through their efforts of lobbying, even going so far as to apply for a blue plaque status which was recently granted. The focus is now shifting away from addressing the initial panic of the rumours, toward positively utilising Friends of Norscot as a vehicle to contribute to the greater good of the community.
