Charity group hosts a picnic to raise funds for animals

FOURWAYS - Registered charity, the Red Ladies and Mr. Red are inviting community members to relax and enjoy a craft beer and gourmet sandwich picnic for a worthy cause that will help animals in need.

The charity initiative was started by a collection of friends and over the past four years they have supported numerous animal and community charities including FreeMe Wildlife Rehabilitation Centre, The National Horse Trust, Rock for CHOC, Reach for a Dream Foundation and the Sisters with Blisters Walk.

The charity work takes the form of donations and physical involvement, and each of the charity’s members are responsible for project-managing their own selection of charities. The charity endeavours to support one charity a month as a group, or with the help of their wider circle of friends or business contacts.

On 19 April, the charity is turning its fundraising efforts to help ReWild, a non-profit organisation which rehabilitates orphaned, injured or misplaced indigenous wildlife. “This includes hand-rearing orphans and preparing them for release, treating injured, sick and poisoned wildlife and returning them as fit healthy animals back into the wild. Rehabilitating illegal indigenous pets back into releasable wild animals,” said the organisation.

The fundraiser will take the form of a craft beer and gourmet sandwich picnic at Camdeboo Farm on Westminster Road in Maroeladal, and all of the profits that are raised on the day will go towards the rehabilitation and release of the wildlife at ReWild. The picnic will be hosted from 12pm to 6pm.

The entrance fee for adults is R200 which includes a gourmet sandwich and two craft beers, while it will cost R60 for children which includes a sandwich and juice.

After community members have enjoyed the tasty treats, there will be a host of activities to entertain everyone from young to old, such as face-painting for the children and croquet for the adults. Music is sure to entertain all.

Details: Bookings can be made at eve@thelastyard.co.za and visit the ReWildNPC Facebook page.
