Budding Fourways singer hits airwaves

FOURWAYS - Songbird Pieter Steyn is an innate musician, with his raw talent manifesting at a young age.

Steyn, who is also a Fourways-based technical advisor, was born in George and attended George South Primary School before matriculating at Outeniqua High School. After school, he went on to study at Boland College in Stellenbosch and qualified as a technical advisor.

The 28-year-old singer was exposed to music from a young age and was a member of the school choir, but had no real interest in becoming a singer at that time.

“To sing in a choir is a bit different to sitting around a campfire and singing songs with your friends … it can become a bit boring,” said Steyn.

Steyn kicked off his serious music career by singing at social events and his love for music and performing grew stronger after performing in front of fellow students during his college days.

His music career was jump-started by Hugo Ludik, founder of Muse Productions, who also founded the South African pop group ADAM.

The two went on to produce two songs, which were penned by Ludik and Vaughan Gardiner.

The first song, Alles is beter, started hitting the airwaves in August via a number of radio stations which included Bok, Uitsaaines, Ja.FM, Lichvaal Stereo, Bosveld Stereo, Namakwaland, Whalecoast FM, KnysnaFM, Kosmos Stereo, Laeveld, Pretoria FM, GrootFM, AfriFM, All Time, Caledon FM and Concom.

Pieter is a social butterfly who enjoys networking, playing sport, going to the gym and movies with his wife. Friends and family are very important to him and he credits his father with guiding him in his life.
