Fuel robberies a regular occurrence

DOUGLASDALE – Douglasdale police are investigating a fuel robbery that took place at a garage in Douglasdale on 29 October at 8pm.

According to Ravi Govender, owner of the filling station, a couple in a white car fled the station after filling their tank to the brim. Govender said the car had no front number plate. He added that this type of incident happened often, and most times suspects were difficult to trace as they used fake registration plates.

Warrant Officer Balan Muthan, head of communications for the Douglasdale police, confirmed that the incident took place and that they were looking into it. He added that the police received fuel robbery complaints at least once every two to three weeks from filling stations in the Fourways area.
