Up close and personal with CherryKab

FOURWAYS – Best known for their hit single, Head Over Heels, pop-rock band CherryKab is intent on carving a name for themselves as one of South Africa’s greatest bands.

Fourways Review got to meet the faces behind the four-man band made up of Paulshof resident Kelvin Alston, Dean Crichton, and brothers Danny and Doulton Robson, who describe their sound as a mix of Katy Perry’s catchy pop and the Foo Fighters rock guitar and vocals.

Despite existing since 2008, the band kept under the radar … until their hit single caught the attention of radio stations nationally in 2013, impressing thousands with their unique sound and energy.

The band explained that the song was inspired by Alston’s past and is about being let down and hurt in previous relationships and finding it hard to fall in love with someone new out of fear of being hurt again.

Despite their singles’ success, the band explained that their greatest challenge has been connecting their name and brand to their music.

“We have had multiple singles on all major radio stations in SA, but are faced with the dilemma of people knowing our songs but not the band name, or that we are even South African. This is something we are working hard at to change! We want CherryKab to become a household name,” the band explained.

And if their music is anything to go by, the band is definitely heading in the right direction.
