Josh Wantie releases debut single

JOHANNESBURG – Durban-born singer Josh Wantie is set to release his debut single to South African radio listeners this week!

Wantie (pronounced Von-tee) has been hard at work in the Cape Town Heritage Sound Studio with members of local band, Gangs of Ballet, and brothers Josh and Brad Klynsmith, recording singles for his up-and-coming debut album which is set to be released early next year.

The single titled, Go Under, has a fantastic South African sound. It’s full of mellow beats, making it the ideal track for the summer holidays. His sound is profound as he swaps between guitar and piano while blending in electronic elements and vocal loops.

The single was produced by the Klynsmith brothers and recorded by Brendan ‘Rusti’ Rossouw, who’s worked with the likes of Prime Circle, Taxi Violence, aKing and Freshlyground.

Producer Brad Klynsmith said, “It’s always rewarding when you get to work with a great guy that has genuine talent. No doubt in my mind that he’s going to explode.”

Speaking about the release, Wantie said, “I am really excited that it’s finally going to be out and people can get to hear all the hard work we’ve put in. My hope is that people can take away who I am as an artist and what my music is about from this single. Hopefully the music speaks to them on a level that makes them want to be part of my journey.”
