Join in the spirit of giving this Christmas

FOURWAYS - Future City Fourways (FCF) is gearing up for the Christmas season and will donate meals and gifts to disadvantaged community members on 25 December.

Douglasdale Community Policing Forum chairperson, Jean Berdou, who is also a founding member of FCF said, “There are many underprivileged people out there in our community that are in need of our attention and support at this time. FCF is challenging the Fourways community to come forward with food donations to provide Christmas meals for those who cannot afford them.

“Please contact us if you are in a position to provide chicken or turkey and vegetables, or make a donation of funds to the purchase of these foods. Just a little extra from all of us means we can all make a big difference in the lives of those in need.”

FCF is looking for volunteers to be Christmas chefs who are willing to help prepare, cook and assist with the distribution of the food on Christmas for an hour or two. They will work with police officers to distribute the meals.

With its partner, Daily Bread charity organisation in Douglasdale, FCF aims to distribute Christmas meals to 250 underprivileged people in the community with help from 50 police officers on duty at Douglasdale Police Station who will be protecting the precinct on Christmas Day and a total of 30 fire officers on duty at Lonehill Fire Station will also assist on the day.

Community members are invited to come and be a part of the giving culture of the FCF. “Let us not forget the reason for the season, but make a difference in the lives of both those less fortunate than us and those who serve us,” Berdou concluded.
