Warrant Officer Balan Muthan, head of communications for the Douglasdale Police Station, said the majority were arrested for drinking and driving.
He attributed the high number of arrests to an increased police and Metro police presence in the area during the festive season.
Muthan added that officers also stopped and checked more than 125 vehicles at random roadblocks during this period.
