Oysters and wine at Monte
MAGALIESSIG – What to expect at this year's 11th Oyster, Wine & Food Festival.
If you are in the mood to push the boat out, well, up and coming in the Fourways area is the 11th Oyster, Wine & Food Festival which will be taking place on 10 to 12 June at Montecasino’s Outdoor Area.
The festival, which is set to rock Montecasino, will feature oysters – joined by 40 wine estates and gourmet food vendors, six Méthode Cap Classique producers and craft beer breweries. Festival-goers have the opportunity to taste the delights offered by vendors before they buy to take home.
With the festival kick-starting on 10 June from 3pm to 9pm; 11 June from 11am to 8pm; and on 12 June from 11am to 6pm, it promises to deliver 65 000 succulent oysters flown in from Knysna.
This year, the organisers are enlarging the ever-popular champagne and oyster deck to include six Méthode Cap Classique producers with an offering of jumbo oysters; whilst the beer garden will, for the first time, host craft beer brewers complementing the already present beer and other fresh coolers.
New to the festival this year will be a space dedicated to the hosting of an international expo which will feature international wines and beverages from a variety of importers as well as VIP hospitality pavilions.
The VIP pavilions are open to individuals, groups of friends and corporate groups who would like to organise their own private experience of the event for valued staff or clients.
Soulful, sophisticated, upmarket and varied live performances to enhance the festival-goer’s experience will be part of the entertainment lineup.
Entrance fee is R140 per person which includes a wine-tasting glass. Children 14 to 18 pay R110 per person for entrance only. Children 13 and younger go in for free. All under 18s must be accompanied by an adult.
