Men and women in blue enjoy a Top Cop breakfast affair

DAINFERN – Read about what took place at the recent Top Cop breakfast at Auto & General.

In a mission to honour and acknowledge the police officers of Douglasdale Police Station, Fourways Review and the Community Policing Forum (CPF) in partnership with Auto & General hosted a breakfast ceremony.

The ceremony took place at Auto & General’s head office in Dainfern where the winner for the month, Detective Victor Gabaekangoe, who was voted for by the community, was announced.

Talking on behalf of Detective Victor Gabaekangoe who is currently away on training, Douglasdale Police Station commander, Brigadier Lettie Hugo stated that she felt very happy that Gabaekangoe won Best Top Cop along with the R2 500 cash prize. “I am so happy that Detective Gaba won as I feel that he really deserves it.

“He is a hard worker, even with the sad financial issues of his deaf son. He really puts the community first and that makes him a worthy winner.”

Hugo added that it was very nice of Auto & General to give them [police officers] a breakfast to honour their efforts as it helps create a good partnership. She further added that she was grateful to see that the officers who put their lives on the line are acknowledged and rewarded.

Chairperson of the CPF, Jean Berdou added, “Keeping community members safe from any criminal activity can be a difficult role to play and these awards are put in place to honour the policemen and women who put their lives on the line on a daily basis.” He said that he really appreciated the efforts of the men and women in blue in their endeavour to protect and serve the community.

“The community is never there to tell you that you are right and are never there to lift a finger, so with this breakfast, it is our way to say thank you for all that you do for the community,” Berdou shared.

“We want you to know that you play a major role in the community without you crime fighters, we don’t know where we would be.”
