Know your nominated Top Cop for #TopCop Award

DOUGLASDALE– Read to see who is nominated for the Top Cop Award for September.

Going beyond the call of duty to serve the community is of utmost importance to public servants and Detective Morwamocha Maloka bears testimony to this.

“I feel very good to be nominated for the Best Detective for this month as I think I deserve it. The reason I think I deserve it is because I was the one leading with convictions last month,” Maloka said.

He added that he always tries his best to keep the community safe by trying to catch the culprits involved in crime in the area. “I believe I am the best detective as I put the safety of the community first and their protection means a lot to me,” he explained. He said, if he wins, he will give some of the money to his children and also buy them Christmas clothes.

Talking on her experience with Maloka, the Douglasdale Police Station commander, Brigadier Lettie Hugo shared that Maloka is a member of the detective service at Douglasdale Police Station and is involved in investigating economic cases, such as fraud, burglary at businesses and burglary at residential properties.

“Maloka is always punctual for duty and is always in possession of a pocket book, which is always up to date, as well as his appointment certificate,” Hugo said and added that Maloka always produced his 24-hour dockets inspection.

“One of the priorities of investigating officers is to give feedback to the complainants; this process of feedback… is to build a strong relationship between the community and the police,” she explained.

Hugo added that if members of the community were not receiving any feedback from the investigating officers, it would mean that the police department would receive more complaints from the community and, therefore, the relationship between the police and the public will not be good.

“Maloka is giving feedback to the community in most of his dockets that he is investigating. The detective always complies with the instructions of the Senior Public Prosecutor and officers in most of the dockets he is investigating,” Hugo concluded.
