Scores of ANC members  shouted for Deputy President Cyril Ramaphosa to lead  the organization during the launch of O.R Tambo Fridays at Ivory Park community Hall on 5 May.

Although the ANC Midrand zone 15 secretary Lekwane Phasha said they were not endorsing Ramaphosa’s name as a preferred candidate for the ANC presidency in 2019, he questioned why he should not lead.
“He is the deputy president of the ANC. Of there is no fundemental reason for him not to assume the position of president, why can’t we make him the president?” he questioned.
Ramaphosa had attended to address the ANC members at the launch that was under the theme “Rebuild and Reposition the ANC as the leader of society”.
Phasha further said that as the ANC in Midrand, they felt the need to rebuild the structures of the organization and make them the leader of society by embarking on community based programmes including in schools and clinics.
“We also want to reintroduce the idea of role models in locations. We want to recognize achievers in our communities and use them as inspiration to others,” he added.
