Giving and guidance for the young from Diepsloot and Maraisburg
FOURWAYS – A place of prayer offers help to the community.
The Masjid Al Kawthar Mosque in Fourways plays a vital role in the lives of 20 children from Diepsloot, the children of Jamia Faqihul Ummah Orphanage in Randburg and adults who access the place of prayer.
Aboobaker Denadh, a leader at the mosque, said the children who benefited from the mosque’s grocery fund came from very poor families.
He said, “Also, once a year during Ramadan we distribute more groceries to families in Diepsloot and also run an Islamic school for 20 children from Diepsloot.”
There are 200 people from Diepsloot and 150 people from Fourways who attend prayers at the mosque.
Denadh added that the mosque was founded in 2004 with only six people in attendance and has grown to about 600.
Managers at the orphanage Serabanu Madaran and Mufti A M Abdullah said they appreciated all the donations and support from the mosque.
“We need any donations especially clothing for the 32 underprivileged, destitute and orphaned children, some of them are from Diepsloot,” said Madaran.
The orphanage also needs help with a veggie garden, painting, plumbing work and new taps.
