WATCH: Fourways gets its first West Pack Lifestyle shop with a trolley dash

FOURWAYS – Four lucky shoppers got to compete in a 90-second trolley dash during the opening of the first West Pack Lifestyle store in Fourways on 9 November.

There was excitement in Fourways when three lucky people took part in a trolley dash.

This for the opening of the brand-new West Pack Lifestyle store which officially opened on 9 November. It is the first of its kind to come to Fourways and hosted a trolley dash for a few of the first customers at the opening.

“In Lonehill, there is a West Pack Express store, which is slightly smaller, but this is the first Lifestyle store in the area,” said Roxy van Eyk, in charge of social media for West Pack.

The new store is situated in Fourways View Shopping Centre, which is the shopping complex next to Fourways Mall where the Hub and Food Lover’s Market are.

West Pack Lifestyle stores are larger than express stores, and sell a range of goods, including kitchenware, plasticware, pet supplies, office supplies and more. There are about 31 West Pack stores in total across four of South Africa’s provinces.

In honour of the new store opening, there were lots of specials during the first few hours which the shop was open. West Pack employees handed out different coloured balls to members of the public who turned up for the opening, which could be redeemed for mystery discounts at the tills.

The three lucky customers who had the three green balls were invited to take part in the Trolley Dash. They each had 90 seconds to dash around the store, and all the items that they managed to place in their trolley during that time, up to the value of R1 500, were theirs to take home for free.

“I’m feeling great,” said Ephraim Nkhumane, who was one of the Trolley Dashers and who loaded a number of cooler boxes into his trolley during the 90 seconds said of the experience.

“Some of [the products that I got during the dash] I will keep for myself, but I’m also going to give some to friends.

“You should always share with those you love. Today’s my lucky day, I’ve never won anything before!”

Although the trolley dash was originally only intended for three customers, the store management decided to allow a fourth customer named Shannon to also have a go, as she had been waiting outside the store for two hours before it opened.
