Northerns tame the Tigers
KYALAMI – Local soccer club's U8 team just cannot seem to lose at the moment.
Northerns Football Club’s U8 team continued their run of good form with a 1–0 win over Tigers Football Club from Lenasia.
Northerns hosted the Tigers at Beaulieu College, Kyalami, under a warm winter sun, and the soccer was hot.
Both teams played good controlling games and had ample chances to score.
It was anyone’s guess who might win, but Wandile Mweli managed to put one into the back of the net in the second half to take the Kyalami side to second place in the Easterns Division 2 League with six weeks of matches left.
This follows the team winning the U7 Division 4 League last year as well as reaching the cup final.
“I do believe they can win [the league],” said club owner, Theodora Crozét.
She said the team has great skill and are showing that by their results in this tougher, more competitive league they were promoted to.
The team will have a bye on 4 August and then play against Edenvale Football Club at Beaulieu College 11 August.
Soccer fans are welcome to come and show their support for the local team.
