Toddler ejected from vehicle in Diepsloot crash

DIEPSLOOT – The two-year-old girl sustained several fractures and various other injuries.

A child, believed to be two years old, sustained serious injuries during a collision in Diepsloot yesterday afternoon, 14 October.

At approximately 1.30pm, ER24’s Oneplan Medical Helicopter was called to Diepsloot Fire Station to airlift the little girl.

Werner Vermaak, communications officer for ER24, said, “It is understood that she was involved in a collision while travelling with a family member. She was ejected from the vehicle during the crash. Paramedics from ER24 and City of Johannesburg EMS [Emergency Management Services] attended to the little girl on the scene and transported her to the fire station where the helicopter could land.”

Vermaak said the girl sustained several fractures and various other injuries. “Once stabilised, she was airlifted to Busamed Modderfontein for further medical care.”

He said the exact circumstanced surrounding the incident was not yet known.
