Adopt a new friend after this crisis is over
FOURWAYS – After the lockdown ends, why not adopt one (or more!) of the cats or dogs currently available from the Pet Empowerment in the Townships organisation.
They had a hard start to life, but now that they’re healthy and happy they want a new home.
The Pet Empowerment in the Townships (Pets) non-profit organisation works in informal settlements across Gauteng to help underprivileged people take better care of their animals. Pets also rehome dogs and cats into new homes where they will receive the love and care they deserve. Here are three Pets dogs who are looking for a new home.

Potential adopters must fill in and submit an application form, agree to a home check and pay an adoption fee of R600 which includes a microchip, deworming, vaccinations and sterilisation if the animal is aged over six months. This applies to adopting both cats and dogs.

“Obviously we can’t adopt out any animals during the lockdown,” explained Nicole Badenhorst of Pets. “But we are happy to communicate with potential adopters, send them photos of the animal and answer questions. People who are interested in fostering in the future are also welcome to contact us.”
Details: If you are able to offer one or more of these dogs a foster or forever home, please contact Glenda Pickering at glendapickering@gmail.com; 082 901 0763.
