Leeuwkop Prison launches manhunt for three escaped inmates

LEEUWKOP - The three inmates were reported to have escaped from the prison in the early hours of 4 September.

The Department of Correctional Services and South African Police Services have launched a manhunt for three convicted inmates who escaped from Leeuwkop Correctional Centre in the early hours of 4 September.

According to a statement from the Department of Correctional Services, “An investigation is being conducted, and the circumstances relating to the escape will be known once the investigation has been concluded.”

The inmates’ names are Ashiphe Mfusi Zinyateli, Reuben Khemi and Tshepo Mogawane.

The department appeals to the public to assist with any information that may lead to their rearrest.
