Massive fire breaks out on Summit Road in Kyalami

KYALAMI – City of Johannesburg firefighters are working to contain the heavy flames along Summit Road which has been closed off.

A fire broke out along Summit Road in Kyalami just before 8am on 30 September.

Spokesperson for the City of Johannesburg Emergency Management Services, Robert Mulaudzi confirmed that fire engines are on site to try and contain the blaze. “At this stage, the cause of the fire is still a subject of investigation, and there are no injuries that have been reported as yet,” he said.

Sector 4 crime forum chairperson of Midrand, Anton van Niekerk,  who is on the scene, said the flames can be seen from kilometres away. “Storage of wax, plastic and coal at a site in Midrand has caught alight for the second time in two months. Summit Road is closed off, and fire engines from all over of the City of Johannesburg have converged,” said van Niekerk.

A detailed article will be published later in the day on both Fourways Review and Midrand Reporter websites.
