Diepsloot day care centre receives grocery boost
DIEPSLOOT– Nell said a partnership with Tastic Rice has helped them get closer to their goal of eradicating hunger.
In their quest to end hunger in poor communities, non-profit organisation Rise Against Hunger in partnership with Tastic Rice, celebrated World Food Day recently with the children of Mother’s Love Day Care Centre in Diepsloot.
Rise Against Hunger is dedicated to ending world hunger by 2030 in a sustainable manner. It supports 66 000 beneficiaries who receive five nutritional meals every week.
During a celebration at the centre, more than 50 children were spoiled with a variety of dishes inspired by the recipes of businesswoman Basetsana Khumalo, television and radio presenter Somizi Mhlongo-Motaung, gospel music sensation Ntokozo Mbambo and former Miss South Africa and Miss World Rolene Strauss.
National operations manager at Rise Against Hunger, Brian Nell said a partnership with Tastic had helped them get closer to their goal of eradicating hunger.
“Rise Against Hunger has been in a meaningful relationship with Tastic for a few years now, and it has allowed us to grow our beneficiary base and bring us closer to our goal of eradicating food insecurity. We are honoured to be a part of today as it ties into our larger goal,” Nell added.
Marketing director for rice and pasta division at Tiger Brands, Thembi Sehloho said Tastic was committed in making a difference in needy communities. “As a brand with generosity at its core, it comes naturally for us to give back in this manner, and sustainably make a difference in improving the lives of communities around the country by nurturing their young minds through supplying nutritious food,” Sehloho added.
Principal at Mother’s Love Day Care Centre, Grace Masina said, “We are very grateful to Tiger Brands and Rise Against Hunger for their act of generosity. Our centre will have food that will last us for weeks.”
