Community members in Diepsloot partake in free weekly aerobics
DIEPSLOOT – The initiative has been well-received by the community.
In a quest to help community members who can’t afford to pay monthly gym fees, an athletics coach and community builder, Precious Hlaka has embarked on a mission to offer free aerobics sessions in Diepsloot.
Hlaka said the initiative had been well-received by members of the community who came out in their numbers to participate in the weekly aerobics sessions.
“This initiative is aimed at encouraging Diepsloot community members to take care of their health through exercising their bodies. We also offer free nutrition advice and eating behaviour for them to see results of their efforts at the end of the day. “People have responded positively to our initiative. The number of people who attend our weekend aerobics session keep on growing every week and such response is encouraging,” she said.
Hlaka added that the outbreak of Covid-19 pandemic and lockdown regulations have robbed many people of their jobs and means of making an income with some forced to trim their monthly budgets.
“Some were forced to terminate their gym memberships because they couldn’t afford it any more. Those who were training by themselves were discouraged and abandoned their routine during lockdown Level 5. We all know that a heathy community will result in a healthy nation.”
She urged community members, young and old to join them every Saturday from 6:30am to 8am.
